The Brief

ARB had a beloved comic strip mascot — Fourby. The brief: bring him to life as a collectable 3D plush toy, premium enough to sell in-store.

ARB’s Fourby — their cartoon 4×4 mascot — had a comic strip following. The brief was to translate that 2D character into a huggable, collectable plush with enough detail and quality to sit proudly on retail shelves. Kids and die-hard 4×4 fans were both in scope. Mediocre wouldn’t do.

The Results

From the comic strip artwork, Arid Zone built a 3D model with careful attention to every signature detail — the googly eyes, oversized tyres, lopsided grin. Swatches were matched to ARB’s exact PMS colours; embroidery and transfers reproduced the spotlights, winch and mag wheels. First sample required only minor tweaks. Fourby now sells across all 43 ARB company-owned Australian stores and is approaching their top 15 retail items. His success led directly to the creation of companion character Ariel.
